It was a great pleasure to meet and photograph Peter Hemstad for Tonka Times magazine recently. Peter is a viticulturist from the U of MN and his research has led to the growth of the wine industry here in MN. We, editor Stacey and I, had envisioned an evening shoot, with warm, romantic light falling onto the vineyard. However, Peter was in China on business and the magazine deadline approached, so we made the best of an overcast day, when Peter returned. The photos of Peter were taken at the MN Arboretum and the St. Croix Vineyard pics were in Stillwater, a few days later. I feel fortunate to have these kinds of opportunities to meet many warm and interesting people in this business. Find out more about Peter and the wine industry at Tonka Times Magazine.

Natalie & Monty
Weather is always a factor with weddings and it was very evident during this hot and humid weekend. Storms cruised through Friday and Saturday night, leaving the days with high humidity and nonstop sunshine. The setting is the Round Barn Farm B & B & B in Red Wing (Bed, Breakfast & Bread). Natalie and Monty did a great job enduring the heat -- we even snuck in some time on the railroad tracks. No shade, but at least there was a breeze. We did eliminate some settings and shortened others, but even at that I think we scored some great moments. One of the highlights for me was their hand written wedding vows. Good Luck Natalie & Monty!

Tia & Astein
Everything about this wedding was striking, from the beautiful and gracious couple, to the minimalist Graves 601, historic Wesley Church and the iconic Sculpture Garden. Their Sculpture Garden photo safari was punctuated with a little mock football and spelling out OHIO, for Tia's alma mater, THE Ohio State University. The evening finished back at the Graves with a warm and spirited reception. One of the highlights: not only were there speeches by the best man, maid of honor and parents, but even the grandparents were involved in this very proud moment for the families. Best wishes to Tia & Astein.
